Applicants certified after 1989 will be given a time-limited
certificate and should complete the Maintenance of Certification process within ten years of the original
certification in order to maintain their status. Applicants may apply
at any time up to three years prior to the ten year limit.
Following receipt of a completed Maintenance of Certification application, and after assessment of these credentials, the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery will notify applicants of the status of their application. Any additional steps that are required for full acceptance of the application will be indicated.
